Ford has once again topped the UK sales charts in April with 27,824 units sold throughout the month.

This compares to just over 21,000 models sold last year and means Ford remains the best-selling brand in 2010.

The Ford Fiesta supermini is still the best-selling car in the UK so far this year, followed by the Ford Focus. The Fiesta was the best-selling UK seller in April, according to figures from the Society of Motoring Manufacturers and Traders.

Nigel Sharp, Ford of Britain managing director, said: "Ford's continuing stream of new model introductions, incorporating our low CO2 technology, suits the current market conditions. We are working hard with our dealers to make customers aware of the outstanding value provided by these technically advanced and stylish vehicles."

Ford also achieved sales growth for the Ka, Fiesta Van, Kuga, S-Max and Transit compared to 2009.

It was a good month for Vauxhall too, as the Astra and Corsa ranges were the two best-sellers in Scotland, and third and fourth overall so far in 2010.
