Prices and details announced for Outlander
Summary
In a busy week for Mitsubishi, the Japanese manufacturer has announced pricing details for the new Outlander SUV.
The release has also confirmed the introduction of a diesel two wheel drive version in the UK market for the first time.
The SUV was initially released three years ago and has consistently outsold the likes of the Peugeot 407 and Citroen C-Crosser in the UK.
Fresh alterations to the Mitsubishi, in the form of a more efficient diesel engine have signalled an attempt to improve on the previous success of the vehicle, with pricing for the entry-level model opening at £21,549.
There are two engines available on the Outlander SUV with a new 2.2-litre Di-D engine joining the ranks alongside a 2.2-litre Di-D PSA engine; however the original is only available with the high-end trims.
The new engine has a higher output of 175 BHP and lower CO2 emissions at 165 g/km than its alternative.
There are four trim levels available on the Outlander, peaking with the top-end GX4 trim, priced at around £29,199. This figure is at 17.5% VAT so expect prices to rise in 2011.
Previously the Outlander has only been offered with four wheel drive however Mitsubishi has extended this to include a new two wheel drive option. This, says the manufacturer, provides “more customer choice in the segment" whilst also reducing CO2 emissions and improving fuel consumption.
