Peugeot awarded emergency services contract
Summary
Peugeot has been announced as the preferred vehicle supplier to the UK’s emergency services.
Peugeot scored well in a number of categories, including a first place finish in the coveted ‘beat car’ category after a rigorous tender process.
The contract entitles all Police, Fire and Ambulance authorities to purchase Peugeot’s bespoke range of vehicles depending on their requirements.
These bespoke models include Police Dog, cell and covert vehicles that stem from standard issue Peugeot cars.
The cars undergo their emergency makeover at Peugeot’s Specialist Vehicles Operation (P.S.V.O.) at the manufacturers Coventry headquarters.
According to the French marque, the P.S.V.O. is an established provider of emergency vehicles thanks to its dedicated team of technicians:
‘Peugeot offers the Emergency Services high quality products that are provided ‘fit for purpose’ to the required specification and also offer ‘best value’ to the fleet manager" says Fleet Director Phil Robson.
Peugeot also quoted its environmental credentials as a factor in receiving the emergency vehicle supplier contract.
In 2011 it is scheduled to release an all electric vehicle in the shape of the Peugeot iOn as well as the much anticipated release of the 3008 Hybrid4 car that breaks the CO2 emissions threshold of 100 g/km whilst delivering a combined cycle fuel consumption figure of 74 mpg.
