Our Five Favourite Animated Cars: Part 2
Before we hear any objections about us already doing this list, we're well aware of that! But another 5, lovingly-served, extra tasty, cartoon cars aren't something to be complaining about. We're performing a national service here, helping you re-live your youth.
We do realise that not everybody has time to look at pretty pictures though, so we'll keep this one short but sweet, and get straight in on the action - starting with:
The Mach 5 from 'Speed Racer'
It was an automotive sin for us to leave out the Mach 5 in our previous list. The cartoon series 'Speed Racer' was adored by children on continents all over the world, and for good reason. The amount of gadgets snuck into this extremely swish vehicle was simply amazing!
The Mean Machine from 'Wacky Races'
There is simply no denying that all of the vehicles on this show were fun; if they weren't cool to look at, they were at least interesting in some way. Some were ingenious, whilst others were just downright awesome. Despite never winning a race (apart from once when Dick Dastardly and Muttley cheated) this car was still our hands-down favourite of the show.
Benny the Cab from 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?'
'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?' was an eclectic film, a fast paced mixture of live action and animated fun. Aside from a certain red-dressed 'toon, Benny is more than likely the most memorable animated character in the film. Unlike a lot of cabs we've had to ride in, Benny was always in the right place at the right time!
The Dodge Challenger R/T from 'Archer'
This is more of a recent entry than past list items; nevertheless it's one that's equally as worthy. The stunningly rendered Dodge Challenger R/T features in 'Archer', a show created in the style of old Saturday morning cartoons (think 'Jonny Quest'). The show is centred on super-spy Sterling Archer, who happens to have a love for those beautiful '70s muscle cars; much like us.
The Phooeymobile from 'Hong Kong Phooey'
It's fitting that the number one spot on our list is reserved for the car of the "number one super guy". The Phooeymobile is little more than a tent on wheels, but it's still got a certain charm to it, much like the character of Hong Kong Phooey; voiced amazingly by the late Scatman Crothers.
