New Hyundai i40 Tourer on sale now
Summary
The new Hyundai i40 Tourer is on sale now in the UK as the Japanese manufacturer looks to take on the Ford Mondeo and Vauxhall Insignia.
Prices for the new Hyundai i40 Tourer start from £18,365; a comparable figure to the Insignia Sports Tourer starting price of £19,350 and the Mondeo Estates opening price of £17,795.
To compete with the popular volume sellers, Hyundai has designed the i40 Tourer in the same attractive styling as the likes of the Hyundai i30.
This means the car uses the small 'smiling' grille and tapering headlamps, which give way to sculpted sides and a panoramic windscreen with sloping roof.
While the car looks good, Hyundai has focused on the powertrain to reduce CO2 emissions to a competitive level.
The best-performing diesel engine delivers 113g/km of CO2 emissions, which means first year road tax is free. Fuel economy is an equally-impressive 65.7mpg and Hyundai has even gone as far to label it 'class leading'.
Ford and Vauxhall both use their Econetic and EcoFlex diesel engines respectively, but neither offers fuel economy as high as the Hyundai.
Andrew Cullis, Marketing Director, Hyundai Motor UK explains: "The i40 Tourer has already created a stir within the market place by providing a stylish, technologically advanced and value for money new alternative in the medium family estate car sector - dominated by more established manufacturers."
To help push sales of the new Hyundai i40, the car maker has launched a new advertising campaign alongside apps for Apple iPhone 4 and Android 2.2.
The app features videos and information about the car as well as 'image recognition technology' for the first time on a Hyundai app.
