The C5 is now equipped with a 155bhp 1.6-litre petrol unit developing 177lb-ft of torque, and a new 160bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine developing 251lb-ft.
Both new engines are Euro V compliant and is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, while the diesel is also available with a six-speed autobox.
Citroen says the petrol engine offers an 18.5 per cent increase in combined fuel economy and a 16 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions, with VED reduced to £175.
Of the diesel engine, Citroen says it offers a 14 per cent increase in power, a three per cent increase in combined fuel economy and four per cent reduction in CO2 over the outgoing engine. VED is reduced to £125 on both saloon and estate diesel models.
On the automatic versions, CO2 emissions are 179g/km on both the Saloon and Tourer. In both cases VED is reduced by £40, from £215 to £175.
