Impressive New Porsche 918 Spyder Shots
After releasing their very own 'spy' photos from secret test locations, Porsche has finally confirmed some of the specifications we can expect to see in the brilliant looking 918 Spyder. We quite like the stylish camouflage on this prototype, much sportier than some of the recent examples we've seen.
A spirited combination of two electric motors and a 570HP, 4.6 litre V8 engine allows the Spyder a peak output of around about 770HP; not too shabby at all. The electric motors are positioned to handle the front and back of the car respectively, drawing energy from a 68kWh lithium-ion battery.
The figures that have been released for the 918's capabilities are fairly impressive. 16 miles on electricity alone and a top speed of 93MPH. Of course, with the gas engine activated this shoots up to a whopping 202MPH, but always good to be environmentally-friendly in this day and age.
Porsche have confidently stated that the Spyder will be able to handle the Nürburgring track with a lap time of 7:22. That's a full ten seconds ahead of the Carrera GT, which the Spyder is essentially succeeding.
