The first British-built Honda Jazz supermini has been produced at the Japanese manufacturer's Swindon plant.
Honda sells 70,000 examples of the five-door supermini in Europe every year, and has shifted production to the UK, one of the biggest markets for ht Jazz, where it employs almost 3,500 workers at Swindon.
Honda says it aims to build 20,000 Jazz models from now until the end of the current financial year in March 2010, alongside the the Civic and CR-V.
“We see this third model as a wonderful opportunity in the current climate and we’re extremely proud to be building the Jazz here in Swindon," said David Hodgetts, Director at HUM.
