BMW comes out on top at technology awards
Summary
BMW’s technology has received four ‘Plus X Awards’ at the annual event including the ‘Best Technology of the Year’ prize.
The German manufacturer’s ConnectedDrive technology was the proud recipient of the overall award chosen by a 134-strong panel of judges consisting of journalists and market experts.
The Plus X Awards touts itself as the ‘world’s biggest technology, sport and lifestyle’ competition so the achievement is a ringing endorsement of BMW’s technology.
ConnectedDrive is available on all new models or through a retrofit on older models, and has been designed to improve travelling comfort through infotainment and entertainment outlets as well as a range of driver aids and safety features.
That includes iPod hook-ups and safety technologies including BMW’s innovative night vision and pedestrian recognition functions.
It was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year in the form of a ConnectedDrive concept car.
The two-seat roadster caused quite a stir amongst motoring journalists and the public as it matched its futuristic and innovative onboard technology with a similarly stunning two-seat roadster design.
BMW also triumphed in the Innovation, Design and Operation Comfort categories – rounding off a brilliant haul for the manufacturer.
